What's Coming Up

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Every year, in August, South Africa marks Women’s Month as a tribute to the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of Pass Laws to women.

As part of the commemoration, we have a number of events scheduled to take place on the campus which includes:

  • 12th August: Episode 1 of the Womanomics Africa ™ “Entrepreneur Guide to the AfCFTA” series;

  • 19th August: IWFSA (YLC Ideal) and Absip Women in Focus Joint Leadership Summit

  • 19th August: UNISA SAWID UN WOMEN Dialogue - Towards Peace and Gender Equality: Collective Legacies and Co-Creative Solutions of African Women

  • 26th August Women's Economic Assembly

Womanomics Africa ™ is proud to be appointed once again as the 2021 TEDxtLytteltonWomen event curator. Womanomics Africa ™ supports this independent TEDx event through the coordination of programme activities associated with the successful delivery of the experience. TEDxLytteltonWomen will be broadcast live on the 2nd December 2021.

This year's theme aptly titled - What Now? - is TEDWomen's bold question, sparking reflections on technology, innovation and design as well as science and culture, with responses from the lens of African women illuminating a way of co-existing now and into the future. What Now? is an interrogation of what works and what doesn't, and in invitation to react, respond and direct differently with agency, agility and urgency.

Nominations are now open for speakers. If you are or know an African woman who imagines or has curated a bold new or old possibility for today, and the future, use this link to nominate her to be a part of the TEDxLytteltonWomen 2021 speaker lineup. Nominations close on the 15th of August. For more information on TEDxLytteltonWomen, visit www.tedxlytteltonwomen.com .
